Linking new tasks to old ones

When trying to link a new user story to an old one (a done user story), it does now link to it at all. It doesn't show in the drop down list of available tasks. And if I type it by its code, it is still not recognizable.

Welcome to Atlassian community, thank you for your query!

I understand a story is marked as Done and another story which is work in progress, when you try to link both the stories you are unable to perform the issue link.

I tried below steps

• Marked CP-11 workitem as "Done"
• On workitem CP-7 Add --> Linked workitem, searched exact workitem key "CP-11"
• I was able to link both the workitem using both Inward and Outward link.

Could you confirm if you have Link Work Items and Edit Issue permission on the project and both the Story are from same project or different projects?
