How do I create a release from a build on a plan branch

I'm trying to use the new release and deploy function in Bamboo 5.0, but I am stuck. My release builds are done from a branch in our repository, like release/2.2, bamboo builds these on a plan branch. But how can I put the build result from the plan branch into a release? The UI doesn't seem to let me do this.

Without being able to use branches, this whole release/deploy function seems like it would be useless.

Hi Chris,

There is currently no way of linking a branch plan to a deployment project but this is something in our radar and currently tracking it at https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/BAM-13268 Please vote and watch the ticket for updates on the roadmap. Thanks

It seems to me that you're asking for the same thing as in this question: https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/192733/deployment-project-for-plan-branch-in-bamboo-5 - in that case I think it will be safe to say that currently (in Bamboo 5.0) there is no way to do this but we are working on it.
