Hi Bamboo users,
I have looked and can't find a clear answer on any documentation - does Bamboo Server support a mix of OS's for agents?
Bamboo Server - Windows
Bamboo Local Agents - Windows
Bamboo Remote Agents - I - Windows
Bamboo Remote Agents - II - Linux
Is this possible?
Regards,
Innocentspirit
Hi InnocentSpirit,
Absolutely, many of our customers build their software for lots of different platforms, so you can mix and match agent operating systems as you need. The only requirement is that you either run Oracle's JDK or OpenJDK on the agents and that they're supported on the operating system.

Sure.
Bamboo actually does not care about the OS on which his agents run
I have a bamoo server on Linux with lots of agents running on Windows, Linux, Solaris & AIX

Hi InnocentSpirit,
There's nothing particular to take into account, the installation of the remote agents works the same way on all platforms.

I suggest looking at the remote agent installation documentation here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/bamboo/bamboo-remote-agent-installation-guide-289276832.html
If you want the agent to start as a Linux server, you can find documentation on how to do that depending on the distro/version of Linux you use.
Also to get the agent to start as a windows service look here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/bamboo/additional-remote-agent-options-436044733.html

Hi Rich,
Thanks for the links. We already have Windows agents and have configured them as Windows service. Looking to add new linux agents now.
Thanks

Thanks Frederic, Christian & Rich,
Is there any specific documentation around this or just follow the standard agent installation steps depending on the OS?

Agree - we have Bamboo running on RHEL and agents running on Linux, Windows and Docker containers. Agents run a java app that connects them to the server.
