Start build on submodule commit

So far I haven't managed to get the following:

A commit to a Bitbucket in a submodule starts building the parent project with the newest submodule commit.

I've added on the Bamboo plan of the parent both (parent and submodule) as repos and activated the triggers.

Nothing happens?

Do I maybe need a continuous integration branch on the parent?
