Is bitbucket supported in ubuntu 16.04?

Joe April 22, 2018

I've tried both version 5.7.0 and latest (5.9.1) and while the actual application seems to work fine,  the commands to start/stop/restart/status via systemctl or service do not work at all.  Is this a known problem?

Hi Joe,

Not sure about that as the services should be installed along. However, could you check if the atlbitbucket is located in the systemd? Otherwise, you can try to install the service manually - Running Bitbucket Server as a Linux service

Regards.

The atlbitbucket script is installed and located in /etc/init.d/

I don't see atlbitbucket in /etc/systemd/system. The problem is

service atlbitbucket status

doesn't seem to actually execute the atlbitbucket

I am spinning up a fresh VM (Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit and just running the bitbucket installer (atlassian-bitbucket-5.9.1-x64.bin)

I think the solution under Using a systemd unit file in the link you posted should work - I will try that as a last resort, however, I am wondering if there is another way (automatically install and user service using installer). Everything seems to work fine in ubuntu 14.04 using the atlbitbucket script that also gets intalled in /etc/init.d/. I think ubuntu 16.04 changed the way the service/systemd work

More info - I am installing bitbucket from the installer as a service and I don't have a way of managing it (other than calling the actual scripts to stop/start bitbucket)
