Restoring backup to new installation

Deleted user December 14, 2019

I have the entire <bitbucket home> folder saved from an old machine that is no longer with us.  I have a new machine and am about to install BitBucket on it.  Is there a way I can restore the old folder into my new installation and be able to save not only all the repos but also the meta data from the old database?   Is it as easy as just copying the old folder structure over the new install?  Thanks

You might have a look at the Bitbucket Server Backup - this is a solution to create a consistent backup of your repositories AND the database. Also a way for restoring this backup is described there.

Without having access to your old machine and therefore without access to old database, there shouldn't be a way to recover it.

Thanks, Johannes.  I have all the old files, including the database, but only as files... not as a running installation.

Since it sounds like I don't have much to lose, I'm going to experiment and see if I can get something to work.
