Compass License level if you have JSM Premium

Ken Young October 2, 2025

I am trying to determine what is the minimum Compass license level we need to be able to integrate our JSM Operations data (Oncall schedules for teams, alerts, etc.) into the Compass dashboards and team statistics.  We are planning to utilize the ITIL processes in JSM, but Compass standard pricing seems like we are basically paying for the operations features twice.  Thx.

Hi @Ken Young , thanks for your post.

I think the answer is, it depends.

If all of the JSM agents need to be able to create components and manage services, it is likely you will end up having the same number of Compass licenses as JSM agent licenses.

If you can delegate the Compass part to a smaller subset of JSM agents, then you would pay less. How many JSM projects do you have? How many components / services do you need to manage?

Perhaps you have already read this page - https://www.atlassian.com/licensing/compass but there are some FAQs, if that can be helpful.

Here is the link for the pricing, which, again, you probably already have - https://www.atlassian.com/software/compass/pricing

If you think we can be of more help, please just ask.

Best wishes

Thank you for the response:

We have a mix/need of services.

  • On-call / Routing / etc of team members (both solutions)
  • Ticketing / base ITIL like processes (workflows can be in both, no change management at this time)
    • How are users doing this without JSM (Just a Jira Project)?
  • Alerting (goal would alert show up both in the alert interface and Compass)

Thx
Ken
