A Search Box Pre-Filtered to Only Find Users

Hi,

Without making a plugin, is there a way to add a search box that only searches users? I can alter an existing search macro via JavaScript, or add in a whole new form via JavaScript.

Hello Samuel,

The search functionality within Confluence is very powerful and helps to find the content you are looking for. The Confluence Live Search will allow you to focus on searching within a space or page tree. The Confluence Live Search will not allow you to focus search within the user directory. Attempting to modify these searches to display only users will not work as the API requests to list users are not available.

There is an alternative where you can request a list of groups, then request again to get members of said group, and from there you can make requests for the users. This would be a rather complex request and may become problematic. You can see more on the API calls for Groups and Users.

There was a feature request (CONFSERVER-34526) created for a similar type of functionality. This feature request has been closed though. You are welcome to submit a new feature request to have this re-evaluated in the future. Follow the Create a Suggestion and ensure you select the proper product and suggestion. If you do end up created a suggestion, please link it back to this post so other may easily find it.
