Access Confluence page content from PostgreSQL database

Marc Maessen June 10, 2020

In the past I installed a local Confluence server version 6.10 on my Macbook Pro. For some reason Apple decided to move files due to a OSX upgrade and now I cannot start my Confluence session anymore.

Upon starting and navigating to Localhost I get the error: Could not load bootstrap from environment - BootstrapException: Unable to bootstrap application: Could not make directory/ies: /Confluence/Confluence-Home

What I want to do now if possible is simply access the page content from the PostgreSQL database so I can copy the information to the Free Cloud edition of Confluence, since I do not want to spend hours in getting this back to work anymore.

Is there any way to do this?

You could read it from the database, but it's a long complicated job, and the data is in a format that you cannot just paste into a page, you'll need to deconstruct and reformat it completely.

I'd recommend getting your local server working instead.   That error probably just means broken permissions on the directories and correcting that will get your server back.

Thank you for the Quick reply first of all !!

I'm afraid I have no idea how to fix these permissions to be honest. I have only 1 user on my Macbook and have myself full read and write permissions on the directories and all subdirectories already.

Is there perhaps some sort of log file somewhere which would show me more specifically which permissions need to be fixed?

I seem to remember that I created a sort of FAQ page with all the Sudo commands needed to get everything working. Is there a way I can search for example for the term 'sudo' in the database and it will only show me the body content of the page that contains this?

I know I should have exported that page to PDF in the past ;-)

Or can I try to reinstall Confluence and recover the database somehow or something?
