Are site-admins able to see who are system-administrators?

James Tam June 18, 2019

I'm trying to use system-administrator features such as User Macros; however, I am a site-admin. My boss, who set up the Atlassian products for our company, is also apparently not under the system-administrators group. The group is not visible, though if I try to add a new group called that, it will say it exists already. I check my boss's group list and see he is not under the system-administrators group, and he couldn't add himself to it.

Anywhere else I can start here?

Thanks!

Hello James,

Welcome to Atlassian Community. It's great to have you!

From the sounds of things, you might be on Confluence Cloud instead of Confluence Server. User Macros are only a feature of Confluence Server. On Server, you can set a user to be System Administrator. On Cloud, System Administrator rights are reserved for Atlassian.

Can you confirm that?

For more information on the differences between Cloud and Server, have a look here:

Even though User Macros are not possible in Cloud, you could let us know what you're trying to do and we can tell you if there's an add-on or workaround for that.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Regards,

Shannon
