Hello Team,

I have created three sections in a confluence page, and all of them should store separate excel sheets. However, Once I attached a file to one section, the same file will get uploaded in all the three sections. That shouldn't be the case.

Any suggestions??. thanks!

Hello Juned,

Thank you for contacting us.

  1. To confirm, your Confluence page has 3 separate Excel attachments, each attached to the page with a different Excel macro. Is that correct?
  2. Do the attachments have different names from each other?
  3. What version of Confluence are you using?
  4. Does this occur on other pages with multiple Excel documents?

Thank you for your help!

Shannon

My answers below

  1. I created 3x sections, the idea was to add separate spreadsheets in each section.
  2. I added only 1 attachment, and it moved in all the 3 x sections.Hence, I didn't add more.
  3. License Information for Confluence Cloud Confluence 1000.0.0-a0bf68fe8f9
  4. I didn't add attachments on other pages.

Thank you for your help.

Hello Juned,

Thank you for the information. I want to make sure that the three spreadsheets on your page all have different names, or else it will overwrite the attachment on all of the sections. Question: Can you confirm the files all have different names?

There are many ways to attach a document to a page in Confluence. Question: Can you please let me know the exact method you're using to attach the Excel document when the issue occurs?

I would like to confirm that the problem isn't with this one specific page. Test this: Can you please create a new test page, with the same situation, with three differently named Excel documents, and let us know if the same occurs?

Lastly, is there a chance you can send us a screenshot of the attachments listing for the page? It will also help if you can show us a screenshot of what the issue looks like before and after you attach the document.

Thank you for your help!

Regards,

Shannon

Capture.PNG Please see the attached snapshot.
I created three sections, with an idea to add different files in all three sections.
The moment I added a file in the 1st section, it automatically added the excel file in the remaining two sections.

The output I am looking is, if I am adding any file to any section, it should remain in that specific section only

I hope this helps. Thanks!

Hello Juned,

Thank you for sharing that with me. It appears from your screenshot that you are using the Attachments Macro. By default, the Attachments Macro shows all attachments on a page. When you drag-and-drop to an attachments macro, it will attach the document to your page. It's not tied to a specific Attachments Macro.

My recommendation would be as follows:

  1. Make sure each document has a unique name.
  2. Make sure to label each document. (See Use Labels to Organize Your Content for information.) You can add labels in a list of attachments displayed by the Attachments macro, by choosing the edit icon  beside each label.
  3. Edit each Attachments Macro to display only one label. You can hide the upload dialogue to make it easier on your users.

As an example, here is what I have done on my instance:

Screenshot 2019-06-14 at 16.31.21.png I included another attachments macro so that the users would have one upload dialogue.

Of course, the ideal thing here would be for the labels to be automatically added to the attachments, but I have investigated this and it is not possible. Your users will need to be instructed to add the labels themselves. Perhaps you could use an informational macro at the top of the page to inform them of which label to use and how to add it:

I hope that helps, but let me know if you have any trouble.

Regards,

Shannon
