Hi! I'm relatively new to Confluence and Jira, and while I've enjoyed working in both software platforms so far, I am struggling a bit in maintaining documentation on both platforms. My company uses PRDs for more detailed projects in Confluence while making small stories in Jira. However, as projects update/change, an additional step of editing Acceptance Criteria and other details in both the PRD and the story can allow for miscommunication.

Is there a plugin, or an option to auto-populate data from both platforms, making them sync up if one thing changes? Thanks for the help!

Dear @Elizabeth Cavallo ,

there is a plugin called Sync Jira. I have no experience with this. Anyhow, I would sync both apps on my own. Start with linking one Issue to one page. Then you could read both entities and sync the data using the REST APIs. Just with a nightly cron job. Of cause you need to code this on your own. But I doubt that you will get something ready to buy that will fulfill:

  • synchronizing custom field with any Confluence container macro
  • deciding which application has "the lead"
  • sync direction based on dates
  • sync direction based on authors
  • lock (write protect) on custom conditions
  • ...

So long

Thomas
