Broken links in a Confluence page throw up a proxy error, now i can't access the page to edit it

John O_Reilly September 9, 2019

One of my internally accessed pages is now being blocked by a proxy error, and we believe it is because links in the page point to resources that were shutdown.

I need to edit the contents of this page to fix those broken links but i can't get past the proxy error.

Is there any way to bypass the proxy error and at least get to an Edit Page screen?

Hello, @John O_Reilly !

Would it be possible for you to share the error that you are getting from the proxy?

We need a little bit more detail on the issue itself.

If the proxy is limiting your access to the content, there might be some internal rules that keep access from happening.

Also, could you share some more details about your instance? Here a concise list of questions:

  1. Are you accessing Confluence Cloud or Self-hosted (server/data center)
  2. Are you the instance admin?
  3. Are you able to bypass the proxy itself, if need be?

Let us hear from you, John!

Here's the error message (i obfuscated the full path for security):

Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /confluence/display/ONE/xxxx

Reason: Error reading from remote server

1. self-hosted

2. yes

3. no
