We want to change the name of the dashboard in Confluece 4. I found https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Modify+Confluence+Interface+Text , but the text and the comments seem to indicate that this applies to pre-4.x versions. I'm reluctant to do this without being sure the instructions are correct, since it involves modifying one of the jar files.
Does anyone know if these instructions are right for Confluence 4? Is there another way to do it?
I can heartily recommend ignoring the documentation for this.
Instead try using this approach: Changing Boilerplate Text in Confluence
My apporach will better survive an upgrade and just feels like less of a hack.
We ended up doing this, and it worked great. It does have the problem that other language packs won't use this string, but, then, I'm pretty sure that is true with the solution where you have to changed a jar-ed file.

That's a good catch, honestly I didn't see that detail. I believe it still applies since this doc is on the 4.* space. It's probably just a matter of replacing the "3" as you said. :)

Hi Jonathan,
Yes, the instructions apply for Confluence 4.* as you can see in https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF42/Modify+Confluence+Interface+Text
Hope it helps!

Thanks, Alyson. Are you certain this applies to the 4.x version, even though right up at the top it says to modify "\confluence\WEB-INF\lib\confluence-3.x.jar", which is a file in the 3.x version? (Perhaps that should be changed to eliminate the "3", and the confusion.)
