Companion App Settings

How do I change the Companion App settings? It keeps defaulting to Keynote for .ppt files but I want it to use Libre Office?

The operating system chooses which app to use with which file extension. Here are some ways to change it in newer Mac and Windows versions:

Mac
In the Finder, select the file, then choose File > Get Info.

You can also Control-click the file, then choose Get Info.

In the Info window, click the disclosure triangle next to “Open with.”

Click the pop-up menu, then choose the app.

To open all files of this type with this app, click Change All.

Windows

Click “System,” then click “Default apps” in the column on the left. This screen shows you the most common default programs that can be changed, most of which are set to Microsoft programs when Windows is first installed. Click on any of the program icons to change the associations for the file type or protocol.
