Confluence Custom Install

Young__Hahn June 3, 2015

I am trying to install Confluence int different directory, but it does not let me do the custom installation..

When I run commend for installation,

Unpacking JRE ...

Starting Installer ...

Jun 03, 2015 12:22:46 PM java.util.prefs.FileSystemPreferences$2 run

INFO: Created system preferences directory in java.home.

This will install Confluence 5.8.4 on your computer.

OK [o, Enter], Cancel [c]

o

Choose the appropriate installation or upgrade option.

Please choose one of the following:

Express Install (uses default settings) [1],

Custom Install (recommended for advanced users) [2, Enter],

Upgrade an existing Confluence installation [3]

2

See where Confluence will be installed and the settings that will be used.

Installation Directory: /opt/atlassian/confluence

Home Directory: /var/atlassian/application-data/confluence

HTTP Port: 8090

RMI Port: 8000

Install as service: Yes

Install [i, Enter], Exit [e]

which is same as Express Installation...

Why is custom installation set up as same as the Express install'?

Is there another way to do set different path?

I tried copying each dirs to the location that I want, but since I am installing this as service, there are many things that I have to change.. and I am afraid to touch that config files..

Is it just me that this Custom install is not working?

A bug report has been raised https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-37796

I've also got a support case open. Oddly, I'm able to run the same installer on another one of my VM's that's configured similarly, and custom install works. I've not yet figured out what's different between the 2 servers/env's yet, since they should be the same.

Express install does the installation into the default directories.

Custom install suggests the default directories but you can tell it to use different ones.

if you look at my post.. there is no option that lets me pick the different path.. Custom Install is actually doing the same setting as the Express Install

I get to edit them, I'm not sure what you're doing differently.

Peter Hancox June 4, 2015

I can't edit them either. Perhaps only an issue with 5.8.4-x64 on Linux?

Peter Hancox June 4, 2015

Works fine for version 5.7.5 but version 5.8.2 is also broken.

I just came here with the same issue, I kept thinking I was choosing the wrong option or something.

please try to run the .exe file as an administrator.

Peter Hancox June 4, 2015

Looks like he's installing on Linux not Windows.
