Creating a QA test site produces a Collaborative Editing error on some pages

We created a QA test site by taking the database from the production site (version 6.11) and before loading it into the QA site, we do a search and replace to change the original URL to the URL for the new site.  Both sites are running in identical Amazon Web Services containers.

The QA site has a problem on certain pages when I go to edit the page, it throws up an editor didn't load this time error.  From the article here - https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/confluence-throws-the-editor-didn-t-load-this-time-error-when-trying-to-edit-a-page-840796639.html, I decided to try turning off the Collaborative editing and then turning it back on.  That fixed the problem but we are wondering if we are doing something wrong in the migration, when we do the search and replace for the URL.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi @Mike Buchanan,

The recommended way is

  • Backing up the production site.
  • Running the installer on the new server and going through the initial configuration.
  • Restoring backup in QA.

Thanks for the reply.  You don't mention changing the URL's in the data to change the hard links.  In our process, we follow the steps laid out in the following page -

https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/how-do-i-replace-all-hard-links-to-my-old-base-url-284366235.html

Maybe the problem I'm experiencing is a bug which I should report?
