Edit Office files with the companion app not sufficient

Hi,

we just updated our Confluence installation to the newest version and are not happy with the companion app and would like to have the old method back.

• We work with big excel files that need to be saved several times while editing and are open often for long times
• The browser tab with the file needs to be always open to upload it back
• With the old Excel macro we were able to click "Edit file" above the printout, this is now missing and we need to use the Attachment macro to be able to

Is it possible to revert back or activate the old method?

Any other options?

I see a user has reported the feature requests below:

• CONFSERVER-56359 Option to disable companion app and edit in Office macro
• CONFSERVER-56317 Direct link to "edit with" for attachments without going through preview

You should be aware that the Edit in Office functionality is being phased out so it's not possible to currently switch back to it once you've upgraded. You can read more about this decision on our 6.11 Release Notes.

I also created the following feature request for you:

• CONFSERVER-56383 Allow Companion App to edit file without requiring tab to be kept open
