Fail to update Atlassian Universal Plugin Manager

ethan chia March 25, 2018

Hi there,

My confluence version is 5.5

when i try to update the Atlassian Universal Plugin Manager Plugin today, I got an error stating "An error was encountered while updating the UPM. See the logs for more details. "

When i look into the logs, I saw i got a Warning: Transactional cache update outside transaction. All updates to this cache should be performed from a thread with a valid context.

May I know what it means.

Thanks,

Ethan

Upgrade to latest version and manage to get it updated from within Confluence web console.

Hello Ethan,

Firstly, the warning you are seeing was a bug in Confluence 5.5 that has since been resolved:

This isn't related to your issue with UPM. I would recommend trying to Manually Upgrade it per the linked article.

Please also be aware that Confluence 5.5 has been End of Life for quite some time now. I would recommend that you upgrade to 5.10 or higher to make sure you have the latest bugfixes and security updates.

Kind regards,

Shannon

Hi Shannon,

Good advise. I finally got my Confluence 6.8 working after i keep having issue with my Base URL. After upgrading to 6.8, The Atlassian Universal Plugin Manager can be upgraded from within the apps.

Best regards,

Ethan
