Failed to add user directory

The instructions on this page (https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/connecting-to-crowd-or-jira-for-user-management-229838465.html) lead me to an error.

Connection test failed. Response from the server:
Failed to create remote crowd client

I've set up the proper account in JIRA and tried adding the user directory in confluence, but when I click on Test Settings it always returns that error.

Hello Mark,

There are a few things that might cause this. Here are a few things you can try to start:

  1. Can you ensure that the Confluence Server instance URL (or IP Address) has been added to the JIRA User Server or whitelist settings?
  2. Configure any proxy or firewall that might block the access. You can try following this: Configuring Web Proxy Support for Confluence
  3. Bypass any proxies you may have set up. For example, if JIRA and Confluence are on the same server, use 127.0.0.1 to connect.

Alternatively, you may be able to review your Confluence logs and it may give you more details on why the failure is occurring.

Let us know of any progress or if you obtain further details, or if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,
Shannon

[SOLVED]

it was as simple as this:

for Server URL I entered: 192.168.2.180

but when I changed it to: http://192.168.2.180 everything worked perfectly.
