How can I connect a JIRA project to Confluence space using REST API

Using pages menu in a project page, I can connect current JIRA project to a confluence space.

Can I do the same job with JIRA REST Api?

Atlassian apps do not yet have support for cross product REST API calls. However, this may be possible in the future.

There is a internal gateway/api/xflow REST API that deals with space links and works now with user and password. However, it fails when an API token is used for the password. We need a API token supported REST API to for this due to the conversion to only support API tokens. Can you provide a link to a public issue that documents this requirement?
