How can I make other symbols appear in the Status Macro?

Hi! I would like to ask for your help on how can I make some symbols appear in the Status Macro instead of it just displaying them as boxes. During edit mode, it only shows boxes but when published it would display as desired. I work with different languages like Korean, Chinese and Japanese and I don't want this to be an issue. I have attached an image that shows the problem. 

My confluence version is currently 7.10.2 and we use a Server/Database Type.

The current version of the Status Macro is 4.0.5.

I am able to recreate the issue on 7.12 when viewing in edit mode.  I would suggest submitting a support issue to Atlassian https://support.atlassian.com/contact/
