How do I create a backup from localhost with a non-gui server

Steve April 10, 2019

We're trying to migrate our Confluence instance off of mysql onto PostgreSQL. I have a running clone of production, so I can experiment as needed.

On the migration page (https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/migrating-to-another-database-148867.html), step 2 in method two states that I need to backup the data and refers me to page https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/manually-backing-up-the-site-152405.html, We have a large site that times out, so I was trying to figure out what to do next. How do I do the backup from a CLI.

I do have the backups I used to set up the clone that are :

1) A mysqldump
2) tar -tgz /opt/atlassian
3) tar -tgz /var/atlassian

Will those backups be sufficient to comply with step 2 in the "migrating to another database" page at https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/migrating-to-another-database-148867.html

Or... will I need the data in some other format to follow the instructions on the migration page.

The online documentation is VERY confusing on how to go about this migration (all the cross-links make it almost impossible to follow in a linear sequence).

Thanks in advance for any advice/thoughts on how to migrate a 50Gb instance to a new database.
