I want to enable novice users to add a new page using a template, while also adding a link to the new page on the parent page.
Doing either one of these is easy: the Create button allows one to select a template, and typing [new name] easily creates a link to a new page. But I cannot see any way to do these two things together.
To a novice user, this is mind boggling, because to accomplish one conceptual task, you need to take two different actions, and you have to be careful to use the same page title in both tasks (no mistyping!)
