Images in comments broken or just badly designed?

Recently the way images are embedded in comments has been changed, but it makes the usage very hard to use.

You have no whatsoever influence over positioning, size etc anymore, do other confluence cloud user have similar problems? Can we get back the functionality (from about 2 weeks ago) or disable the new "features"?

For example arranging images next to each other, like the following, is not possible anymore in the comment section of confluence cloud:

instead the images are arranged in the center, this weird handlebar on the side is no help at all:
