Hello,
i updated confluence from 3.5 to 4.0.4 and now if i want to see the changes made on a page i got the whole page in the old version i only got the changes. Is there a way to just get the changes?
Thanks for any help
Hallo Jens
The Confluence team have been improving the page diff incrementally in later versions. In Confluence 4.3, you'll see the parts of the page that were changed, with an ellipsis (three dots) to indicate the bits that are not shown.
For example, take a look at the "view change" on this page: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Text+Tokenisation+and+Filtering
Here's a direct link to the diff: https://confluence.atlassian.com/pages/diffpages.action?pageId=11568016&originalId=311919729
In practice, this works well for some pages (such as the above page). For other pages, the wyziwyg nature of the editor means that you still get a lot of content in the diff. See this page, for example: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Searching+Confluence
Here's the diff: https://confluence.atlassian.com/pages/diffpages.action?pageId=139528&originalId=306349811
The issue is complicated by the fact that Confluence shows a lot of "formatting" changes (highlighted in blue) where no change actually occurred.
I hope this clears things up a bit. :)
Cheers
Sarah
As far as I know using the UI all the page will be shown and the changes will be colored as red (old version) and green (new version).
There's a plugin that seems like Confluence's Page History that might be of help: Confluence Page History Slider
Hope it helps!
