We are currently running Confluence 6.6.1 - and planning an upgrade to 6.11 in the near future.
We are also looking at using external authentication (i.e. LDAP) for governing space-level access.
However, the current internal groups are used quite exstensively to govern page level restructions within spaces.
Our concern is that once we switch to external authentication, the pre-existing internal groups will be null and void, and we will need to somehow recreate the page level restrictions using the newly created external groups (which as you can imagine is a rather arduous task....).
My hope that is once we switch to external groups for authentication / space level access, we can still use the preexisting internal groups for page restrictions.
Can internal and external groups be used simultaneously w/in the same Confluence instance?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thank you!
Hi Scott,
As far as i know it should work perfectly. (i did this before)
But i would like to suggest that you try it in an acceptance environment with an exact copy first to avoid any problems.
Regards
Dave
Dave, Thank you VERY much for the quick reply....That is EXACTLY what we are going to do....
