Ok, latest follow up. I had not tried JavaMelody for a while, but re-installed it and tried it last week. Apparently, the issue I was having with the chart images no longer happens on my setup (I'm running Confluence 4.2.13 and JavaMelody 1.43.0).
Thanks for the suggestions.
I do not know why the temp directory may be deleted. But you can read about how to change the storage directory of javamelody in the user's guide for JIRA/Confluence/Bamboo

Ok, a little bit more info. Based on David Simpson's question above, I looked at my temp directory in the Confluence install directory, and saw nothing there. I tried creating a new directory called "javamelody" since that seems to be what is required. Then I uninstalled the plugin, reinstalled, and graphs returned. Checking the temp/javamelody directory, I could see all the temp files and rrd files in there. However, I came back 3 hours later, and the temp directory is totally empty!
Something is clearing out my temp directory in my Confluence install directory every couple of hours? Is this normal?

Good question. Looking at the first chart, "Used Memory", here is the image link in the page source code:
<img class='synthèse' id='img' src='?width=960&height=400&graph=usedMemory' alt='zoom'/>
If I attempt to open the image in a new tab, I get a Confluence system error, with this cause:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: Could not open /usr/local/confluence/temp/javamelody/_Tauri-Confluence/usedMemory.rrd [non existent]
at org.jrobin.core.RrdDb.<init>(Unknown Source)
Like I said, what is strange is that the images work fine for about 24 hours when I first install the plugin, but then after that, nothing.

Where are the images pointing to?
