Keep getting the below error message when I click through the link sent to email address to reset my password. I need to access Confluence quite urgently so I would appreciate some assistance.
The password could not be changed by the credentials provider. org.springframework.ldap.OperationNotSupportedException: [LDAP: error code 53 - 0000052D: SvcErr: DSID-031A12D2, problem 5003 (WILL_NOT_PERFORM), data 0 ]; nested exception is javax.naming.OperationNotSupportedException: [LDAP: error code 53 - 0000052D: SvcErr: DSID-031A12D2, problem 5003 (WILL_NOT_PERFORM), data 0 ]; remaining name 'cn=stanley carnall,ou=user accounts,ou=administration,ou=users,ou=cd service,ou=np,dc=np,dc=ncds,dc=uk'
This error tells us you have a misconfigured connection from Confluence to your LDAP directory (which holds all the user accounts).
Although it is configured properly to read and update users and groups, password changes must be done over a secured connection. Error 53 is "connection not secure enough to allow this change".
Welcome to the Atlassian Community @Stanley Carnall
You have not mentioned whether you are using Confluence Server or Cloud ? Seems like your confluence instance is LDAP managed, so you should be able to login with your system credentials and the password reset won't work. In that case you should reach out to your Confluence Administrators for further help.

Hi there,
Thanks for getting back to me. Yep, I didn't know how to answer that question so I put 'don't know' which is still unfortunately the answer. How does one tell?
Which system credentials should I be able to log in with? I have previously been given a username and password that is specific to Confluence...

If your confluence URL contains *.atlassian.net or *.jira.com then it is Cloud.
Can you confirm the URL ? You should probably reach out to the team who has provided the username/password to you earlier, they will be able to help reset the password for you.
