trex1234 January 26, 2021

Hey,

Do we need any ad-ons to access REST API for on-premise confluence installation?

No, it's built-in and always available.

I was not able to generate access tokens

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist-  Does the admin need to generate oAuth tokens or can the user get the token from somewhere?

Thanks @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-

One more thing, we do not need any special licenses right? ie data center license or any of that sort?

Nope.  It's a Service (whether it's DC, Cloud or Server) running and listening for people or systems to talk to it, either over the UI, REST or even email.

It doesn't care what route you talk to it over or what version you're licenced for!

If you want to use routes other than the three main off-the-shelf ones, you might need to start looking at licences for apps or integrations.  But the UI, REST and simple email are all built into all three Services.

Important to note for on-premise installations is that authentication should be with the Bearer:-protocol, as explained in the docs here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/enterprise/using-personal-access-tokens-1026032365.html
