Hello,

can I use the Atlassian Companion 1.3.1 without an internet connection?

Our security team has reported me, that this app is connecting to the internet!

Can i stop this? I couldn't find any configuration options, at the Client, on my notebook.

Regards

Daniel

@Daniel Vlad I was not able to find anything in the docuemntation.  Have you tried blocking it to see what happens?

@Brant Schroeder Thanks Brant. I can't do this by myself, i depend on the help of my colleagues.
That´s why I asked before, in the hope that there is a configuration option possibility.

Hi @Daniel Vlad ,

Companion will run without an internet connection as long as your Confluence site is accessible. It only makes an internet request to check for updates. This can be disabled, however doing so is a hack and not recommended.

I'm assuming you're using the .exe version of Companion. I will note that the MSI version does not check for updates and thus you should not have this problem - see this page for details about the MSI.

If you want to disable the update check for the exe, then you can go to the Companion install directory, which is in %AppData% and the "Atlassian Companion/resources" directory contains a "companionConfig.json" file, which you can edit to set the "builtWith" to "wix". See my comment here as a reference

@Alex K , thank you very much for your answer.

We try it now with the .msi file.

The path you sent: >>> %AppData% and the "Atlassian Companion/resources" directory contains a "companionConfig.json" file <<<
I could´t find it at my %AppData% folder (Companion Vers. 1.3.1)

Did using the MSI resolve the issue?

There should be an "atlassian-desktop-companion" subdirectory within %LOCALAPPDATA%, sorry I gave you the wrong path, I meant Appdata Local, not Appdata Roaming

IT looks like the issue has been fixed. So far no internet connection established.

I can confirm what you write above.

This is what the paths look like:

For the MSI install, this file should contain the following:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Atlassian Companion\resources\companionConfig.json
{"builtWith": "wix"}

For the EXE install, the file should contain:
C:\Users\V1xxxxx\AppData\Local\atlassian-desktop-companion\app-1.3.1\resources\companionConfig.json
{"builtWith": "squirrel"}

Thanks
