Hello
I'd like to know if I can install Confluence on Linux Centos where I have no root permissions?
I have a 'regular' account on the host, while Java and MySQL are installed on this host (I checked your pre-req doc).
Thank you
Yes, although it will install only in directories that your regular account can read/write and you won't be able to make it automatically start on boot.
I see. I'd like to give it a chance and see the performance.
Can you point out the link for the best instructions of this situations?
One more question: Can I install JIRA on the same host (same situation)?
Thank you

Just follow the standard installation instructions, the only difference you'll notice is that it will offer different installation locations. Yes, you can put Jira on the same host. Just bear in mind that you'll need to ensure you have enough resources to run the operating system, Confluence and Jira at the same time.

Hi again,
I checked with my hosting provider and I can't just install JIRA and Confluence on a hosted machine. So I'd like to ask you again how much RAM do I need to run the following for for 10 users? JIRA, JIRA Agile, JIRA Service Desk and Confluence.
I tend to install them all on one machine.
I'll install it on a virtualized machine running CentOS. I'll install there all necessary resources (Apache MySQL Java etc.)

Well, you hadn't actually asked about resources before. For your requirements, I'd allow 512Mb RAM for Confluence and 1Gb for JIRA, and remember to leave some over for the operating system and MySQL. Ideally, I'd double those memory allocations, so start with a 4GB machine.

Hi Mosh,
Since you don’t have root permission, make sure you don’t have any SeLinux or Iptables that can cause some pain.
As I could see, you want to install JIRA and Confluence on a host which also will have the MySQL, am I right? It isn’t a problem if you have resources, but can create future problems to do a backup or if your environment start to get bigger. However, to a staging or small environment it shouldn’t be a problem.
Best regards,
Renato Runicki
