Can not grant existing Jira user access to Confluence

I have users in Jira that want to see my Confluence instance.

How do I grant them access?

All of the help documents are wrong.

Have you tried to add Jira as a User Directory in Confluence?

Go to Confluence Admin -> User Directories

Point to jira instance and save connection.

Hit synchronize, if it is not sync by default.

After a moment your users will be able to login to confluence using their jira usernames and passwords.
