I changed the default Home to point to a space homepage rather than the system dashboard (via Admin > General Configuration > Further Configuration). That works great. My issue is when a user goes to Confluence and is already logged in, they get a message that says:
You are currently logged in as xxx. Click here for the dashboard. To log in as another user, you must first log out.
Since the only thing they can click is the 'click here for the dashboard', they still end up back at the dashboard I am trying to get them away from.
If I knew how to edit that message I would remove the dashboard link and would just point them back to site space homepage I have setup.
Any thoughts?
The issue was definitely on the OneLogin side. Have it working now after resetting up the link.
Thanks for assisting. I'll bring this info to our system admins to have them review the link setup in OneLogin.

We use a different SSO, but a search of the OneLogin configuration shows a number of steps, step 7 of which looks like it points directly to the dashboard. There might me something that needs to be rejiggered when you change the default home page:

We use OneLogin. So a user goes to OneLogin and clicks a link for confluence. I checked and the URL in OneLogin is in the https://ourconfluencesite.com. The first time a user goes to the site it directs them correctly to the configured homepage. If they go back through OneLogin again though, it recognizes them as logged in and is sending them to that page where they click into the dashboard.

Going to your main site address should take users to the configured home page:
https://yourConfluenceSite.com
Users should only see the "You are currently logged in ..." screen if they go to the Login screen:
https://yourConfluenceSite.com/logout.action
And just for completeness, your users will go to the dashboard if they go to:
https://yourConfluenceSite.com/wiki/dashboard.action
If your users are getting to Confluence via a link (emailed or residing on your intranet, etc.), make sure it just points to the link like the first example above.
