×Hi,
We have recently purchased license for Confluence server and are looking to integrate HipChat with Confluence and have the below questions. Could you please answer them?
Thanks in advance.
- For connecting to HipChat server (*.hipchat.com) from Confluence installed in our network, would we need to open firewall ports for inbound connections? If so please advise why this is required.
You will need to open the port where Confluence is listening.
- Where would be the chat history stored? Would it be in our Confluence server or in HipChat server? Can this be accessed/downloaded by users at a later point of time?
Chat history is stored in HipChat and it can be access as per http://help.hipchat.com/knowledgebase/articles/64471-where-can-i-view-chat-history.
- Is the communication over TCP or UDP? Is the data transferred securely?
Communication is TCP. HipChat (in *.hipchat.com) uses a secure HTTPS connection. You can also set that in Confluence as per Running Confluence Over SSL or HTTPS.
- What would be the cost involved in (a) connecting to HipChat server *.hipchat.com (b) installing HipChat server locally in our network?
You can find the pricing information in:
