Confluence IE 11: 'insert symbol' window is empty

Hello,

with our test version of Confluence 5.4.4, it is not possible to insert a symbol in a page - the insert symbol window is empty, whereas inserting an emoticon works fine. This behaviour does not exist in Firefox (latest).

Does anybody else experience this? Officiallly, Confluence 5 supports IE 11.
