Hi all,

I face an interesting requirement, creating templates for users to use and create documents from, with data integrity and quality control being very important. The way I have implemented this is as follows.

Note: This process also requires the Comala meta data add on for confluence server

Users create a page from a details template, which is just a template of meta data macro's for which users supply the required value.

Next they will create a child page from another template that contains all of the usual document content as well as meta data from macro's, which pull any dynamic data required in the document, from the parent page.

My issue is as follows, when creating the child page from the template, the user is required to simply create from the template and save, no work in the editor need be done, the only user input is in the Parent page which I am not worried about.

Due to the user entering the editor, prior to initially saving the first version of the page, i cannot guarantee that the content of the child page template was not changed, before the creation of the initial version. Thereby completely breaking traceability.

Is there a way for a user to create a page from a template, specifying only a unique page name, and having confluence bypass the editor and create the page as version 1.

Control after this is not an issue as page histories or track change methods can be used to guarantee integrity as anything can be compared to the original, which is now guaranteed to be a direct reflection of the implemented and controlled template.

My first thought is either a code module of some sort that can cause this behaviour

My second would be a new macro based off of "Create from Template", where rather than entering the editor upon use, clicking the button prompts the user for a page name, once submitted, the user is simply directed to version 1 of the page, and can then enter the editor if they so choose.

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Jeffrey Iliffe

Hi @Jeffrey Iliffe

Our Page Tree Creator (PTC) could be a solution for your requirements. By pressing a PTC-button the user can or has to enter the fields and then the page or page tree gets created. The editor does not open.

You can find the Page Tree Creator on the Marketplace.

Regards,
Stephan (PM at EPS Software Engineering AG, the vendor of the PTC)
