Does Confluence or JIRA handle AD/LDAP nested groups?
We have the following versions . JIRA 5.2.4.1 & 6.1 Confluence 4.3.3 & 5.6.1
We want to create AD/LDAP groups & nested groups when both applications can recognize the LDAP groups and assosciate them internally. We currently have LDAP setup for logins
Here are the dosc for Confluence 4.3:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF43/Managing+Nested+Groups
And JIRA 5.2:

Hi Ken,
Yes, it's possible to use nested groups in Confluence. Check this documentation for further details: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/managing-nested-groups-229838455.html
I hope it helps!
Eduardo

Yes, there is a checkbox in the LDAP setup to enable nested groups. However, there are some performance concerns with it. We had it setup in our environment with about two levels of nesting and certain macros that had permissions by group got REALLY slow. So, try it out on a test system first before going all in.
