Edit in Office Excel fails /plugins/confluence/servlet/confluence/editinword when using dark mode

Hello,

We cannot use edit in work.  We turned off the Companion app as it was giving us issues (the window that pops up confusing some users or they would just not hit 'upload' when done)

Files can be uploaded with the offending special characters the first time, but then they fail with Edit In Office.   If that could be prevented in the first place with a warning - that would help.

Right some files work, others do not office edit.  On clicking edit in office we get an error that the file will not download but Excel opens up.  We have two similarly named files - one work, one does not.

Errorthoughts?

The are some known issues with the Edit in Office feature for files with special characters in the name - https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-22403.
Does the filename of the failing file include any special characters or spaces? What are the differences in the naming between the two files?

Hello Alex!

The evil file has an amnpersand &  and that did it.  

However, you can initially upload a new file with an & in it.  But if then EiO fails.  

I understand special characters cause issues and might be a tough fix, but if they were prevented from being uploaded in the first place, might help!
