Error in content update notification [com.ctc.wstx.exc.WstxLazyException]

Hello,

We are getting below error in email notification when mention someone in Confluence

错误: [com.ctc.wstx.exc.WstxLazyException] Unexpected character '<' (code 60) excepted space, or '>' or "/>" at [row,col {unknown-source}]: [1,383]

Is there any idea of how to fix it.

Does this error occur on every page in Confluence, or only certain pages?

Has the content from the page been copied from elsewhere and might contain hidden characters? 

Finally, what version of Confluence are you using?

Not all of them. but many of them show error. Mainly mention someone.

Hello Ryan,

Thank you for confirming. This is generally because there is customization on the page or caused by certain 3rd party add-ons.

1. If you create a copy of the page, do you have the same issue there?
2. If you physically copy the content from Edit mode and paste it into a brand-new Confluence page, do you have the same issue?
3. Does it matter which user you mention?
4. Try removing all customization on your instance and also turning on Safe Mode. 
5. I would also recommend installing a Source Editor (one of the first two listings linked on this Marketplace page) and use it in order to see if there's any extra characters hidden somewhere. This can happen if you copy and paste content from another place (such as Notepad, a website, etc.)
