Hi all, we want to help solve content delivery and completion tracking in Confluence, so we built an add-on called Knowledge Pathways for Confluence (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.servicerocket.confluence.pathways/server/overview).
There's a common need to see what pages are viewed (popularity) but we also value the needs of ensuring the right page is viewed by the right people (and be able to track them). I'd recommend to give it a try.
We started with Google Analytics. Now we use Qlik Sense. We collect visitor statistic from Google Analytics. Comments, likes, content type, permission etc from the Confluence database and more user information from the Active Directory and HR system (Workday). Then we display and analyse it all in Qlik Sense.

The view tracker add-on, or embedding (something like) google analytics.

Thanks Nic! We've been looking at View Tracker...do you know of any videos that show how the macro works? Is it a solid user experience? Does it only measure a rolling 90-days? Is it necessary to have the reporting add-on to report on metrics?

I've not seen videos for it, but it's been easy to use in my experience - the docs guide you through it quite easily. The reporting add-on is not necessary, but it lets you do a lot more with the data.
I don't know about the 90 day thing.
