How popular is a page by page hits?

Is it possible to get a 'how many times a page was hit' report in confluence.

We have page titles 'quickfind' and we want to see how many times they have been hit over the last 2-6 months to see if they are adding value to the site.

Thats a webserver statistics, not a confluence topic. Confluence does not know, for instance, how much your proxy or web accelerator cached the page, if you have something like that.

Immediate: So the best guess would be "analyze your webserverlogfiles" for "List the top 10 pages with URL containing XXX"

More detailed future: Incorporate a tracking cookie and use a webanalytics tool to track siteuseage. Technically, that is rather simple, but you need to get a clear concept on the business side "What do we need to know", "which Key performance indicators are necessary" etc. And there are some plugins to help you with that, but again, the main challenge is businesswise.

We went with the popular content macro and set the output to the total number of pages in that space then ctl F for phase 'quickfind'

The suggestions above look like better options and now we know so we can manage it appropriatly.

There are a few ways to do this. You can enable web server logging for Confluence and then analyze those logs. You could put Google Analytics in the custom HTML section of Confluence Admin so that it shows up on each page and then use Google Analytics to get that information. If you are on 5.3 there is now a SQL table that tracks what pages you go to, so you could get that info with SQL. Bitvoodoo has a plugin for tracking page hits.

Hopefully one of those options will meet your needs.
