How to customise confluence home page

Iam on confluence 5.5. iwant to change the layout of the confluence home page,

can i do it?

I can highly recommend the addon "Refined Wiki". In addition to give you a lot of power in making a tailored home page, it utilizes the categories in an elegant way, so you can have menus and submenus. We've been using it for some years now, and are very content.

The standard dashboard page can't really be changed much (without coding or addons)

But you can simply point to any page in Confluence and say "that's the home page".  And you can do what you want with a Confluence page.  Just make sure it's in a space all your users can see.
