I want to use an older version of the Table of Contents Plugin than what is bundled with my Confluence version 4.2.12.
Installed by default is Table of Contents 2.5.13 which I am unable to install.
If I upgrade to 2.6 I then have the option to uninstall at which point I can manually install 2.5.10. However when I restart confluence it reverts to 2.5.13.
Further on this I would like to upgrade to 4.3 however since it is bundled with Table of Contents 2.6 I don't have an option to upgrade ToC so that I can then uninstall it and install 2.5.10.
I have a feeling the answer to 1 problem is the answer to both...
Thanks for any help,
You are note allowed to downgrade a plugin from the user interface.
The easiest way is to downgrade it is to trick confluence and change the plugin file name version number to a newer one than the installed (even if it does not match the actual version number).
Another way to do it is to delete the bundled plugin and install the desired version of the plugin normally.
Alex,
I followed the instructions and completely wiped out the plugin from SQL database along with clearing the plugin cache folders. I then renamed the file to a higher number and installed but it still recognizes it as 2.5.10 and says there is an update...

TOC plugin v 2.5.10 is not supported in confluence 4.2.x. It seems possible that has something to do with it. You could probably force the old version in but why would you? The release notes show that the versions were maintance releases, not feature releases so, functionality wise there should not be a diffrence.

I can't get an answer to the above question which is why I want to do it. Our company has about ~100 pages where we use the fact that links in headers (color changed) shows up in table of contents as well as the links being clickable from the Table of Contents. This changed after 2.5.10 for some reason.
Thanks for the answers all. I'm sure one will work, I will test and accept best answer soon.

You might also want to clear the plugin cache after downgrading a plugin, to avoid future problems.

Hello,
To downgrade a plugin version, you just have to download the older version and then, upload it through the UPM.
You can see how it works through the following article:

Cheers
