Hi ,
We are maintaining the files in file list and these files are downloading into computer every time I want to look or edit the file.
Is there a setting that just opens the file and not download it? Even if I view the file, it downloads it. That can be an issue for file management on the laptop.
I have installed Atlassian Companion to edit the file directly but i could see the file gets downloaded every time.
Please help me to change the settings.
Regards,
Fayaz
Hi Fayaz,
Are you using Confluence Cloud or Server?
Do you see the file being downloaded by your browser?
Regards,
Alex
We use it on Cloud and the file being downloaded by the browser.

Hi, we have the same issue with the Cloud version.. it started a few weeks ago. when viewing or editing an attachment, in addition to the file updated/downloaded by Atlassian Companion (n a specific Atlassian folder) the browser downloads the same file (to the browser's default download folder)- of course this file is not being used as it is always renamed by the Windows OS (with a running number added to the file name)

Guy,
Thank you for clarifying the issue and confirming it's for Confluence Cloud and not Server.
I've found we have a few bugs reported for this, and I believe that they are all related.
Please click This affects my team on each of the bugs affecting you, and you will automatically be added to the list of watchers and receive updates on this in the future.
Thank you again for your help!
Regards,
Shannon

Hello Fayaz,
Welcome to Atlassian Community. It's nice to have you!
Atlassian Companion requires that you download a local copy of the file to your computer so you can edit it in Word. Once you finish your changes, you save it, and click Update and it will upload the local version to replace the Confluence version.
To view the file without downloading it, you can click the thumbnail image on the page or View within the Attachments Macro, and it will just show you a preview of the image in your browser. If you click the name of the file, it will attempt to download the file.
If you're encountering a download when you click View, it might be that previews have been disabled somehow on your site. If this is the case, please let me know your Confluence version.
Regards,
Shannon
