Yep - I have a brand-new installation of Confluence 5.7 and I cannot add macros to a page. I can't even add e Cheese test macro. It is infuriating because the JIRA issues macro dialog actually finds the issue I want to add, but the macro will not appear on the edited page.
I can add text, but not macros.
Hey Kevin,
Try clearing the plugins cache:
# Shutdown Confluence # Ensure the user running Confluence has full read/write privileges to the confluence-home directory. # Remove the following directories (!) This will remove the plugin cache files only and will not permanently remove any plugins. These directories will be recreated during the next Confluence startup. However, some third-party plugins may store metadata in these directories, so we recommend creating a temporary backup of the directories. #* <confluence-home>/bundled-plugins #* <confluence-home>/plugins-cache #* <confluence-home>/plugins-osgi-cache #* <confluence-home>/plugins-temp #* <confluence-home>/bundled-plugins_language # Start Confluence
Cheers,
Hi Guilherme,
Thanks for getting back to me. I already tried your remedy several times to no avail, but just now (literally in the last 5 minutes) I found out more which might help. Using dev. tools I was inspecting the edit page and I noticed that there are a lot of internal rest calls to tinymce, analytics etc. .. and they all fail with a 404.
I have a similar installation on a development VM and it is working perfectly, but I can see no difference between the two.
BTW - these are not the "undefined" 404s described in https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/Confluence+REST+or+Plugin+Function+Requests+Returned+404+Not+Found
They are, or should be, valid URLs.
example https://{servername}/cnfl/rest/tinymce/1/drafts
The first part (up to the cnfl/) is the correct URL for confluence
After more testing I find that the rest service is working because /prototype/1/space/ds produces a result.
Cheers

I FOUND IT !!! - Haven't fixed it yet but at least I know what it is !!
I'm pretty sure tt's another manifestation of https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-26485 ... descibed also in https://confluence.atlassian.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=300812262
I'm working through a VPN - and the errors I am getting are XSRF check failures because the address of the server is internally proxied so the url is "cleaned up" be removing the port information.
Now I have to talk to the system engineers at the other end to see if they can reconfigure the VPN.
