Is there are way to have an "active" excel doc within confluence?

For example: We have Excel documents for veterinary technicians that calculate dosage of meds, anesthesia, etc based on the weight of the animal. They input the weight, and the document calculates for them instantly. These are needed in emergency situations where speed is absolutely necessary. It would be wonderful if the user didn't have to download the excel file, but could use it right there within Confluence.

We're open to building this form in something different than Excel if necessary.

You will not be able to edit and have the functions run within excel with you are viewing the file in Confluence.  I would suggest going a different route.
