We have Jira SD and Confluence . For SAML we are using Okta . Please let me know what is the best practice to integrate Okta Is it with Jira SD or Confluence .
Any pointers or reference would be very helpful regarding the integrations with Okta
Thanks in advance.

Hi @Ramakrishna,
You would need Okta users to have the same set of Groups and permissions along with the profile attributes. This can be achieved using User Profile and Group mapping provided in miniOrange SAML SSO plugins for Jira SD and Confluence.
Jira: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1215430/jira-saml-single-sign-on-sso-jira-sso
Confluence: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1215542/single-sign-on-sso-confluence-saml
The main advantage of using it is users are created on the fly (no duplicate users) and can invoke single logout(when logout from Jira SD/Confluence, auto logged out from Okta). One can enable Single Sign-On for Jira SD customers and agents both at a time. You can also allow only customers to login and restrict agents or vice versa.
If you want some customers to login via SSO into Okta and not all the customers then you can achieve this using Auto-Redirect functionality.
We support basic SAML features along with extended features like Custom Attribute Mapping, Secure Admin Access, etc.

Hi @Ramakrishna
They way to proceed depends on which platform you are on (server, data center or cloud). For cloud, you option for achieving this is with Atlassian Access. Data center (not server) has native support for basic SAML features. Both server and data center can benefit of Marketplace SSO apps. A main advantage of many of these marketplace apps is that both agents and customers in Jira SD can benefit of SSO (login via Okta). Another advantage is richer user provisioning features, which allow you to administrate everything around user access to the Atlassian product in Okta (avoid duplicate maintenance of users, groups and memberships).
Full disclosure: I work for Kantega SSO one of the top marketplace vendors. You can try out our apps for free, and please reach out if you want a demo or need assistance from our support team.
Have a nice day!
