Hi there,

We are running an old version of the confluence server, which haven't been updated since 2018 - now we will want to move to the cloud, what are the prerequisite to do this:

- Do we first need to update to the latest version?

- We have AD Server and Okta as authentification - how will the users authenticate in the cloud?

Thanks

Hey @Albert Manuel !

You do not need to be on the latest version to migrate Confluence to Cloud, but you do need to be on a minimum supported version for this migration and that is 5.10, as long as you are on this version, you do not need to upgrade, but if you aren't, you will require to perform an upgrade first.

Regarding the user authentification, you can connect your AD or OKTA with Atlassian Access that will act as the bridge between your IdP and Atlassian Cloud.

Sharing below some resources I find extremely useful.

Why in the world would you want to move to Confluence Cloud?

It's a company decision - we will go with jira also in cloud, but first confluence.
