Cannot access after change of IP

Daniel Santaella August 21, 2020

Hello,

We wanted to upgrade our Confluence instance running in a VM. For that, we cloned our current one, uninstalled the current software and installed the 7.4.3 version. I could set up all the information and connection to database properly, also restored the backup. Everything good until here.

The problem now is that we want to disable the old VM and change the 7.4.3 instance IP for the old IP and hostname, so users will not notice any change in their way of accessing. I modified the ifcfg-eth* IPs and the hostname of the machine, rebooted and then the Confluence was not accessible anymore.

What is the way to change the configuration if the hostname and IP have to change in the Virtual Machine where the current instance of Confluence is?

Best regards,

Daniel

@Daniel Santaella

Is the new IP also assigned to the server base URL of the confluence in your dns environment accordingly?
A ping on the confluence host gives the current ip?

Hi Repi,

Thanks for your questions. A ping returns the IP of the new server instance.

I solved another issue regarding the Collaborative Editing enabled by default when installing, I will test Confluence 7.4.3 for a couple of days and, if issues persist, will get back to the Community.

Best regards,

Daniel

@repi

As I mentioned, I shut down the old VM, afterwards I change the hostname of the new machine and the IP of the interfaces, and the confluence service is not accesible, therefore I cannot change its base URL (it does not appear in the server.xml file).

The server responds to ping commands.
